An Historic Hobby
The history of horse racing in Liverpool goes back a very long way, with some of the earliest mentions of it dating back to the Tudor times in the 15th Century.
The nearby racecourse at Aintree has been part of the local landscape for almost two hundred years, and since 1839 it has been the venue for Britain’s most famous horse race, the annual Grand National. Enjoyed by 70,000 in-person spectators and a further 600 million viewers worldwide, Aintree is one of the most recognised points of interest in North West England.
